Jacob Dubois, a 22-year-old man from Schertz, Texas, disappeared on March 7, 2021, after telling his girlfriend he was going to meet up with his friend, Ethan Beckman. Dubois never returned home, and his disappearance quickly turned into a murder investigation. Beckman, who was the last person known to be with Dubois, provided conflicting stories about their whereabouts.
Authorities later found Dubois' remains 18 months after his disappearance in Comal County.
During the investigation, police discovered evidence in Beckman's car, including blood, a spent bullet, and items that could be used to dispose of a body. Beckman was arrested and initially faced charges of tampering with evidence.
In March 2023, a Guadalupe County grand jury indicted Beckman on charges of first-degree murder and tampering with or fabricating physical evidence. The investigation revealed that Beckman had been involved in a collision and abandoned his vehicle near where Dubois' remains were later found. Beckman's conflicting stories and the evidence found in his car led to his conviction.
On March 26, 2024, a jury found Beckman guilty of first-degree murder and tampering with evidence in the death of Jacob Dubois. The conviction brought some closure to Dubois' family and friends, who had been seeking justice for his tragic death.
