On October 9, 2024, Vernon Paul "Tinky" Johnson, aged 54, was fatally shot in Temple, Texas. The incident occurred around 7:20 p.m. in the 700 block of Luna Lane, where Johnson entered the backyard of his neighbor, 52-year-old David Tate. An argument ensued between the two men, culminating in Tate shooting Johnson multiple times.
