On October 15, 2024, at approximately 3:15 p.m., Dallas police officers responded to a shooting incident in the 5900 block of Highland Village Drive, located in the Southeast Oak Cliff neighborhood. Upon arrival, they discovered 36-year-old Quentin Brown lying in the parking lot of an apartment complex with gunshot wounds. Emergency medical services transported Brown to a local hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
The investigation quickly identified 22-year-old Alonzo Green as the primary suspect in the shooting. Witnesses reported seeing Green flee the scene in a silver Dodge Charger. Notably, officers had encountered both Green and Brown minutes before the shooting during a separate interaction, during which they recorded the vehicle's license plate number. This information facilitated the swift identification and apprehension of Green.
Authorities located Green approximately five miles from the crime scene in the Red Bird neighborhood. Upon his arrest, officers observed blood on his shoes and discovered a firearm inside his vehicle. During questioning, Green admitted to driving from his residence to the apartment complex parking lot, where he confronted and shot Brown.
The motive behind the shooting appears to be a love triangle involving both men and a woman who had been in sexual relationships with each of them. According to the woman, whose identity is being withheld for her safety, Brown and Green had recently engaged in arguments concerning their relationships with her.
