On October 17, 2024, in northeast Harris County, Texas, a tragic incident resulted in the deaths of two brothers, including 50-year-old Edward Lopez-Robles. The sequence of events began around 11 p.m. when a domestic dispute erupted between Carlos Guerra, approximately 30 years old, and his girlfriend at their residence on South Spicewood Lane. Fearing for her safety, the woman fled with her two teenage children to a neighboring house occupied by three brothers: Edward, Luis, and a third
sibling.
Guerra pursued his girlfriend to the neighbors' property, where he was confronted by Edward and his 31-year-old brother, Luis Lopez-Robles. In the ensuing confrontation, Guerra opened fire, fatally shooting both Edward and Luis. The third brother, aged 40, retrieved a firearm and exchanged gunfire with Guerra, wounding him. Guerra then retreated to his own residence, where he died from a self-inflicted gunshot wound, culminating in an apparent double murder-suicide.
Authorities had previously responded to reports of family violence at Guerra's residence in the days leading up to the fatal incident. The surviving brother, as well as the woman and her two children, were unharmed and are cooperating with law enforcement. The Harris County Sheriff's Office continues to investigate the circumstances surrounding this tragic event.
