On October 27, 2024, at approximately 1:20 a.m., Houston police responded to a shooting incident at a strip center located at 11921 Bissonnet Street in Southwest Houston. Upon arrival, officers discovered 19-year-old Mario Villanueva unresponsive, having sustained multiple gunshot wounds. Paramedics from the Houston Fire Department pronounced Villanueva deceased at the scene.
A second victim, a 32-year-old man whose identity has not been disclosed, was also found with gunshot injuries and was transported to a nearby hospital in stable condition.
Investigations revealed that a gathering was taking place at the strip center when a physical altercation erupted. During the confrontation, a firearm was produced, and multiple shots were fired into the crowd, striking both Villanueva and the second victim. Through further investigation, 19-year-old Isaiah Keith Bisengimana was identified as the primary suspect in the shooting. On November 13, 2024, Bisengimana was arrested on charges related to a separate case and subsequently booked into the Harris County Jail. The following day, he was formally charged with murder in connection to Villanueva's death.
As of the latest reports, Bisengimana remains in custody, and his bond has not been set.
