On November 9, 2024, at approximately 5:50 p.m., McKinney police responded to multiple 911 calls reporting gunfire near the intersection of Chestnut Street and Colorado Street. Upon arrival, officers discovered two male victims with gunshot wounds: 17-year-old Kajarryawn Mack and his 22-year-old brother, Lamarrya Ransem. Both were transported to local hospitals, where they succumbed to their injuries.
In the days following the incident, McKinney police arrested three individuals in connection with the double homicide. The first arrests included 21-year-old Roman Miguel Castillo and a juvenile suspect. Subsequently, a second juvenile suspect was taken into custody. All three have been charged with capital murder.
