On November 9, 2024, 43-year-old Christopher Paul Fuentes was fatally shot outside a Taco Palenque restaurant on Blanco Road in San Antonio, Texas. The incident occurred shortly after midnight following an altercation involving Fuentes, his daughter, and her boyfriend, 32-year-old Franco Xavier Summers.
Earlier that evening, Fuentes, his daughter, and Summers had been drinking at the daughter's apartment before deciding to visit a bar. Upon arrival, Fuentes and his daughter refused to pay the cover charge, which reportedly angered Summers. He began yelling at them, repeatedly mentioning that he was armed. The situation escalated as they left the bar, with Summers continuing his threats. Fuentes and his daughter eventually exited the vehicle and walked toward the nearby Taco Palenque.
Surveillance footage from the restaurant shows a vehicle, driven by Summers, pulling up beside Fuentes and his daughter as they walked. Fuentes approached the vehicle and appeared to engage in a brief conversation with Summers before reaching in to grab his right arm. He then instructed his daughter to run, at which point Summers fired multiple rounds, fatally striking Fuentes. The daughter fled and hid inside the restaurant, later identifying Summers as the shooter.
Summers was arrested the following day and charged with murder. His criminal history includes a previous arrest in 2013 for the murder of 17-year-old Roger Rodriguez Jr.; however, that charge was dismissed due to claims of self-defense. In 2019, Summers was involved in a hostage situation, leading to a two-year prison sentence. Additionally, he faced assault charges in August 2023 for allegedly assaulting his girlfriend, Fuentes's daughter.
The tragic death of Christopher Fuentes has left his family devastated, with relatives calling for justice and expressing frustration over Summers's history of violent behavior and prior releases. They hope that this time, the legal system will ensure he remains incarcerated to prevent further harm.
