On January 6, 2023, at approximately 8:32 p.m., Long Beach police officers responded to reports of a shooting in the 5500 block of Long Beach Boulevard. Upon arrival, they discovered 20-year-old Isaiah Saucedo, a resident of Long Beach, lying on the ground near a vehicle. He had sustained multiple gunshot wounds to his upper body. Despite life-saving efforts by the Long Beach Fire Department, Saucedo was pronounced dead at the scene.
Preliminary investigations revealed that Saucedo was seated in the driver's seat of his vehicle when an unknown assailant approached and shot him multiple times. The suspect fled the area on foot in an unknown direction. At the time, the motive for the shooting was unclear, and detectives from the Special Investigations Division were assigned to the case.
On January 27, 2023, detectives made significant progress by arresting two teenage suspects in connection with Saucedo's murder. A 16-year-old male was apprehended near the 400 block of East 49th Street, and a 15-year-old male was taken into custody in the 1100 block of Tehachapi Drive, both in Long Beach. Due to their ages, the identities of the suspects were not disclosed. Both were booked on charges of murder and robbery and were held without bail. Detectives planned to present the case to the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office for filing consideration.
As of the latest available information, detectives were still working to determine the motive behind the shooting, and the investigation remained ongoing.
