On April 24, 2023, 19-year-old Jazmin Green was fatally struck by stray gunfire while parking her car on East 105th Street and San Pedro Street in South Los Angeles. Green, affectionately known as "Jazzy" to her friends and family, had just finished work and was returning home when she was caught in the crossfire of a gang-related shooting. She sustained a gunshot wound to the head and was transported to a hospital, where she succumbed to her injuries three days later.

The Los Angeles Police Department reported that two male suspects were seen fleeing the scene in a vehicle; however, as of now, no arrests have been made, and the suspects remain unidentified. Green's family has been actively seeking justice, urging the Los Angeles City Council to offer a reward for information leading to the apprehension of the perpetrators. Community activists have also stepped forward, with one from Chicago offering a $4,000 reward to encourage witnesses to come forward.

Green was a recent graduate of Mayfair High School and had begun her studies at American Career College, aspiring to become a medical assistant. Described by loved ones as a "big teddy bear" with a heart of gold and a constant smile, her untimely death has left a profound void in the community. Vigils and memorials have been held in her honor, with family and friends calling for an end to the senseless violence plaguing their neighborhood.

In the wake of this tragedy, a GoFundMe campaign has been established to assist Green's family with funeral expenses and to support them during this difficult time. The community continues to rally together, hoping that justice will be served for Jazmin and that measures will be implemented to prevent such incidents from occurring in the future.
