Death by Force

On July 4, 2023, 19-year-old Mactavious Brasean Garren was fatally shot during a meeting arranged for an illegal gun sale in south Sacramento. The encounter, which took place around 12:30 p.m. on the 4100 block of 49th Avenue, turned violent when a 15-year-old suspect allegedly opened fire, resulting in Garren's death at the scene and injuries to his 18-year-old cousin, who survived.
