On the evening of July 16, 2023, at approximately 10:44 p.m., 19-year-old Melanie Lizbeth Mancera and a 21-year-old female companion were standing outside near the intersection of South Gless and East First streets in Boyle Heights, Los Angeles. They were approached by two male suspects who drew handguns and fired multiple shots before fleeing the scene.
