In a tragic turn of events on June 1, 2020, 28-year-old Roddrell M. 'Drexx' Harris of Rock Hill, South Carolina, was fatally shot. The incident unfolded on Wildcat Creek Road, stemming from what was reported as a dispute. Harris was discovered inside a vehicle with gunshot wounds and was transported to Piedmont Medical Center, where he succumbed to his injuries.
The investigation into the shooting quickly led to a suspect, 18-year-old Jaheim Je'Tereion Douglas, who was identified as
Harris's cousin. Following the incident, Douglas fled the scene, abandoning the car he was driving. He was later taken to the sheriff's office by a family member and turned himself in to the authorities. Another individual, Quintonio Bernard Porter, aged 27, was also taken into custody after he allegedly attempted to flee from a traffic stop in a vehicle that had been connected to Douglas's escape. During the stop, Porter reportedly rammed two police cars.
Initially charged with murder, Jaheim Je'Tereion Douglas later pleaded guilty to the lesser charge of voluntary manslaughter and possession of a weapon during a violent crime in January 2021. Prosecutors stated that Harris was unarmed at the time of the shooting. Douglas, who expressed remorse for his actions, was sentenced to 15 years in prison. The case, as described by prosecutors, was a 'senseless crime' that highlighted the devastating impact of violence.
