On August 7, 2023, at approximately 2:50 a.m., a shooting occurred at the intersection of Firestone Boulevard and Hooper Avenue in the Florence-Firestone area of South Los Angeles. The incident took place during a street takeover event, a gathering where participants block intersections to perform dangerous driving maneuvers.
Upon arrival, Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department deputies found 24-year-old Kevion Randall suffering from multiple gunshot wounds.
He was pronounced dead at the scene. A second male victim was transported to a local hospital, where he later succumbed to his injuries.
Investigators have not yet determined the motive behind the shooting or the exact sequence of events leading up to it. As of now, no arrests have been made, and authorities have not identified any suspects.
