On October 16, 2023, 42-year-old Stacie Lee Mendez was fatally shot in Sunnyvale, California. The incident occurred around 5:28 a.m. in the 1700 block of Karameos Drive, where officers discovered Mendez and another woman, both in their 40s, inside a vehicle. Mendez succumbed to her injuries, while the second woman sustained gunshot wounds and was transported to a local hospital for treatment.
