In March of 2015, a 36-year-old Hispanic male named Victor Uel Carillo-Gamez vanished from Phoenix, Arizona. He was last seen on the evening of March 18th in the vicinity of 107th Avenue and Campbell Street and from that point, all communication with him ceased. For over a year, his whereabouts remained a mystery, leaving his family and investigators with no solid leads.
The case took a grim turn in July 2016 when partial skeletal remains were discovered in a sewer line in Phoenix.
Forensic analysis later confirmed the remains belonged to Victor Carillo-Gamez, transforming a missing person case into a homicide investigation. The discovery, while tragic, provided a crucial piece of the puzzle, confirming that Carillo-Gamez had met with a fatal end.
Years passed before a significant breakthrough occurred in the investigation. In March of 2020, Phoenix police detectives arrested 25-year-old Francisco Fuentes as the primary suspect in the death of Carillo-Gamez. Fuentes was taken into custody and subsequently booked into the Maricopa County Jail, charged with the murder of Victor Carillo-Gamez. Following his arrest, Fuentes invoked his Fifth Amendment rights, and his bond was set at $500,000.
