On January 1, 2024, at approximately 12:10 a.m., 34-year-old Jose Juarez was fatally shot in Oxnard, California. The incident occurred in the 2100 block of Sierra Way, where Juarez was found with a single gunshot wound. Emergency responders transported him to Ventura County Medical Center, but he succumbed to his injuries shortly thereafter.
Juarez was attending a neighborhood New Year's Eve family gathering when he left to check on two of his five children at their nearby home.
While crossing the street, he was shot. His wife, Cassandra, emphasized that Juarez was not involved in any gang activities, describing him as a dedicated family man.
The Oxnard Police Department's Major Crimes Unit is actively investigating the case. As of now, no arrests have been made, and authorities have not identified any suspects.
