On March 25, 2024, at approximately 11:55 p.m., 23-year-old Nahun Viera Cortes Jr. was fatally shot at his residence in the 500 block of North Normandie Avenue, situated between Sixth Street and Wilshire Boulevard in Los Angeles, California.
Officers from the Los Angeles Police Department's Olympic Division responded to an assault with a deadly weapon call at the location and discovered Cortes Jr. suffering from gunshot wounds.
Los Angeles Fire Department personnel pronounced him dead at the scene.
The Los Angeles County Department of Medical Examiner identified the victim as Nahun Viera Cortes Jr.
As of now, no motive or suspect description has been made available. The investigation remains active, and authorities are urging anyone with information to contact the LAPD.
In the wake of this tragedy, a GoFundMe campaign titled "In Loving Memory of Nahun Jr" was organized by his sister, Ashley Victoria Viera Cortes, to support funeral expenses and honor his memory.
