On April 24, 2024, at approximately 1:52 a.m., deputies from the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department responded to reports of a shooting at the intersection of 91st Street and Compton Avenue in South Los Angeles. Upon arrival, they discovered the body of 31-year-old Jesus Fabian Castillo lying on the roadway, having sustained fatal gunshot wounds.
Despite a thorough search of the area, authorities did not recover any weapons, and no suspects were immediately identified at the scene. The motive behind Castillo's murder remains unclear, and as of now, the suspect or suspects involved are still at large. In the wake of this tragic incident, Castillo's family arranged funeral services to honor his memory. A velacion (viewing) was held on May 13, 2024, at Guerra-Cunningham-Bagues Funeral Directors in Huntington Park, California, followed by a funeral service on May 14, 2024, at St. Lawrence of Brindisi in Los Angeles.
As the investigation continues, the community remains hopeful that new leads will emerge to bring justice for Jesus Fabian Castillo and provide closure for his grieving family and friends.
