On May 5, 2024, 61-year-old Michael Seymour was fatally shot while seated in his minivan near the intersection of 12th Street and Lake Merritt Boulevard in Oakland, California. After being struck by gunfire, Seymour managed to drive approximately half a mile to the 1200 block of First Avenue, where he was involved in a collision. Emergency responders pronounced him deceased at the scene.
