On July 10, 2024, a tragic incident unfolded in Alameda, California, where 1-year-old Wesley James Killian was fatally shot along with four other family members. The victims included Wesley's mother, 36-year-old Brenda Natali Morales; his father-in-law, 70-year-old Miguel Angel Carcamo Ramirez; his mother-in-law, 56-year-old Marta Elena Morales; and his 6-year-old brother, William Andrew Killian. The family had recently moved into their home on the 400 block of Kitty Hawk Road.
The suspect, 54-year-old Shane Killian, was arrested at the scene without incident. He has been charged with multiple felonies, including five counts of murder, corporal injury to a relationship partner, elder or dependent adult abuse, possession of an assault weapon, and possession of an unconventional pistol. Authorities have not disclosed a motive for the killings. In his dying moments, Miguel Carcamo identified his son-in-law, Shane Killian, as the perpetrator.
The community has been deeply affected by this tragedy, especially those connected to the local Little League where 6-year-old William played. A GoFundMe campaign has been established to support the family's funeral expenses and to help relocate the victims' bodies to their native El Salvador. Shane Killian is currently held without bail, and his arraignment has been postponed multiple times as the investigation continues.
