Boyd Wayne Johnson, a 24-year-old male, was murdered on May 8, 1982, while incarcerated in the Alameda County jail in California. His death was the result of strangulation at the hands of his cellmate, David Edwin Mason, a convicted serial killer. Mason, who had previously murdered at least four elderly individuals in Oakland, California, was already serving time for his crimes when he killed Johnson.
