On July 27, 2024, at approximately 8:56 p.m., Chino Police officers responded to a 911 call reporting a shooting at a residence in the 3900 block of Pepper Tree Lane. Upon arrival, they discovered two adult males inside the home, both suffering from gunshot wounds. One victim was transported to a local hospital, underwent emergency surgery, and was listed in stable condition. Tragically, the second victim, identified as 65-year-old Haman Li, succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced deceased
at the scene.
Preliminary investigations revealed that the incident stemmed from a family dispute involving the suspect and his relatives. The alleged shooter, 37-year-old Wenhua Lee of Chino, was detained at the residence without incident. He was subsequently arrested and booked at the West Valley Detention Center on charges of murder and attempted murder.
Authorities have not disclosed specific details regarding the nature of the family dispute or the events leading up to the shooting.
