Correctional Officer Jesus 'Jesse' Sanchez, aged 24, tragically lost his life on October 6, 1972, in Chino, California. Officer Sanchez was ambushed and fatally shot while escorting an inmate from the California Institution for Men to a court hearing in San Bernardino. The ambush occurred on Edison Avenue near Euclid Avenue when two cars forced the prison van off the road.
