On August 25, 2024, 37-year-old Marcel Dupree Jones was fatally shot at the Ursula Sherman Village homeless shelter, also known as Harrison House, located at 711 Harrison Street in Berkeley, California. Jones, a resident of the shelter, was found with multiple gunshot wounds inside the building. Despite immediate life-saving efforts by responding officers, he was pronounced dead at the scene.
