On September 7, 2024, at approximately 2:30 a.m., Sacramento police responded to reports of a shooting on the 4000 block of 4th Avenue in the Oak Park neighborhood. Upon arrival, officers discovered two men with gunshot wounds. Both individuals were transported to a local hospital, where 22-year-old John Kevin Parker succumbed to his injuries. The second victim sustained injuries but was expected to survive.
