In the early afternoon of August 8, 2023, tragedy struck in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, forever altering the lives of those who knew and loved Jack G. Cook Jr. The 31-year-old male was driving on the 8300 block of West Derby Place at approximately 12:11 p.m. when the course of his day, and ultimately his life, was violently interrupted. An unknown individual fired multiple shots at Cook's vehicle, inflicting life-threatening injuries.
The assault caused him to lose control of his vehicle, which then crashed into a pole and erupted in flames.
First responders rushed to the chaotic scene, and Cook was quickly transported to a local hospital. Despite the efforts of medical professionals, the severity of his injuries proved to be insurmountable, and he succumbed to them later that day. The incident left a void in the community, with family and friends gathering to mourn his passing at a funeral service held on August 16, 2023, at Rock Hill Missionary Baptist Church.
The Milwaukee Police Department is actively investigating the homicide and is seeking the public's assistance in identifying the unknown suspect or suspects responsible for this brazen act of violence. As of now, no arrests have been made in connection with the fatal shooting of Jack G.
