On October 3, 2024, at approximately 5:05 p.m., Los Angeles County Sheriff's deputies responded to reports of a shooting near the intersection of Oleander Avenue and Compton Boulevard in Compton, California. Upon arrival, they discovered 25-year-old Leonel Arechiga Morales suffering from gunshot wounds to his upper torso. He was promptly transported to a local hospital, where he was pronounced dead at 6:04 p.m.
The Los Angeles County Medical Examiner-Coroner later identified the victim as Leonel Arechiga Morales, born on August 5, 1999. An autopsy determined the cause of death to be a gunshot wound to the neck, and the manner of death was classified as homicide.
As of now, no suspects have been identified or arrested in connection with Morales's death. The Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department continues to investigate the circumstances surrounding the fatal shooting.
