On October 12, 2024, at approximately 12:09 a.m., John Garcia, a 35-year-old resident of El Monte, California, was fatally shot at the Silver Dollar Saloon, a sports bar located on the 10700 block of Lower Azusa Road. El Monte Police Department officers responded to reports of gunfire and, upon arrival, were directed inside the establishment where they found Garcia unresponsive with multiple gunshot wounds. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
