On October 24, 2024, Modesto police conducted a welfare check at a residence on Citrus Drive after 46-year-old Sierra Morgan failed to appear for work, prompting concern among her colleagues. Upon forcibly entering the home, officers discovered the bodies of Morgan and her 17-year-old son, Cole Miller, both deceased from gunshot wounds.
