Upon arrival, officers discovered the bodies of 43-year-old Monique Soila Duran and her spouse, 43-year-old Liliana Martinez-Duran, both deceased from gunshot wounds.
The preliminary investigation by the Bakersfield Police Department suggested that the incident was a murder-suicide, with Monique Duran identified as the individual who fatally shot her spouse before taking her own life.
The Kern County Coroner's Office confirmed the identities of the deceased but did not immediately release the official causes and manners of death pending further investigation.
No arrests were made in connection with this case, as the evidence indicated that Monique Duran was responsible for both deaths. The investigation was concluded with the determination of murder-suicide, and no suspects were sought.
