On January 5, 2023, Steve Short, a 70-year-old resident of Milan, Tennessee, was found deceased in his home alongside his wife, Susan Short. The Milan Police Department conducted a welfare check at their residence on Forrest Street after family members expressed concern over the couple's unresponsiveness. Upon entering the home, officers discovered both individuals in an upstairs bedroom, each having sustained fatal gunshot wounds.
