On the evening of February 23, 2014, the quiet stretch of Napoleon Luther Road outside Milan, Tennessee, erupted into flashing lights and sirens when Marcus Coleman, a 26-year-old man, turned up wounded and desperate for help. Not long after 7 p.m., Coleman reached a nearby residence and said Coleman had been beaten and shot in the chest, asking the resident to call 911.
