On February 6, 2023, at approximately 1:35 a.m., Memphis Police Department officers responded to a shooting in the vicinity of Staten Avenue and Hollywood in North Memphis. Upon arrival, they discovered 25-year-old Javola Crawford, known to his family as "Lil Ted," lying on the ground with a gunshot wound; he was pronounced dead at the scene.
