A road rage incident that began on a Hermitage, Tennessee roadway ended in the death of 38-year-old Tristan Walker, a male resident of the area. The fatal encounter unfolded on the afternoon of Saturday, March 11, 2023, culminating in a shooting in the parking lot of a Walmart on Lebanon Pike. Walker was accompanied by his girlfriend at the time of the incident.
According to accounts from both parties, the altercation began with accusations of tailgating and brake-checking between Walker
and another driver, identified as 22-year-old Tiara Mowbray. Walker's girlfriend stated that Mowbray had been driving too closely behind them. Conversely, Mowbray alleged that Walker had repeatedly brake-checked her, and she had done the same in response. The escalating tensions led both drivers to pull into the Walmart parking lot off of Andrew Jackson Parkway.
Once in the parking lot, Walker exited his vehicle and approached Mowbray's car. As he reached her vehicle, Mowbray discharged a firearm, striking Walker in the chest. He succumbed to the gunshot wound and was pronounced dead at the scene.
Law enforcement officials arrived to find Mowbray still at the location. She was cooperative with the detectives and was taken to police headquarters for an interview. The handgun she used was recovered from the dashboard of her vehicle. In the immediate aftermath of the shooting, no charges were filed against Mowbray. The case was referred to the District Attorney's Office for review, with the investigation focusing on whether the shooting was an act of self-defense. There have been no subsequent public announcements regarding any charges being filed in the case.
