On the evening of the Fourth of July in 2023, a domestic disturbance escalated into a fatal shooting in Cordova, Tennessee, claiming the life of 36-year-old Emmanuel Manzano. Deputies from the Shelby County Sheriff's Office were dispatched to the 1200 block of Breezy Valley Drive around 6:45 p.m. following a 911 call from Melissa Rolison, who reported a domestic dispute with Manzano as they were driving to the residence.
Upon their arrival, authorities discovered Manzano in the garage with a gunshot wound to his chest. He was rushed to Regional One Hospital, but tragically, he succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced deceased. At the scene, investigators found Rolison to be uncooperative and combative.
Subsequent investigation led detectives to obtain a search warrant for Rolison's vehicle, where they discovered a loaded gun in the trunk. A spent shell casing found in the garage was a match to the ammunition in the firearm. Rolison was taken into custody but refused to answer questions regarding the incident.
Initially charged with second-degree murder, Melissa Rolison later pleaded guilty to the lesser charge of reckless homicide on August 2, 2024.
