On August 18, 2023, at approximately 9:30 a.m., Memphis Police Department officers responded to a shooting in the 500 block of South Parkway East, near a BP gas station. Upon arrival, they discovered 28-year-old Tomanuel Benson, brother of Memphis rapper Blac Youngsta, with a fatal gunshot wound; he was pronounced dead at the scene.
