In the late hours of a Friday in Memphis, Tennessee, the sounds of city life were pierced by the sharp report of gunfire. On May 20, 2022, what initially appeared to be a single-car accident on Kimball Avenue and Kimball Cove in the southern part of the city quickly turned into a homicide investigation. When officers from the Memphis Police Department arrived at the scene around 10:53 p.m., they found a 2007 Chevy Monte Carlo SS that had crashed into a light pole.
Inside the vehicle was a man who had sustained multiple gunshot wounds.
