On October 27, 2023, 37-year-old Jerren Rutherford, known in the music industry as Memphis rapper "Big Mota," was fatally shot in Memphis, Tennessee. The incident occurred in the Oakhaven neighborhood, where a double shooting left Rutherford dead and another individual critically injured.
