On January 19, 2023, at approximately 2:20 p.m., 23-year-old Eugene Nance was fatally shot in downtown Pittsburgh. The incident occurred near the intersection of Liberty Avenue and Seventh Street, a bustling area in the city's Cultural District. Nance sustained multiple gunshot wounds to his chest and right leg and was transported to UPMC Mercy Hospital, where he was pronounced dead at 3:35 p.m.
