On March 26, 2023, at approximately 2:35 p.m., 26-year-old Alexander Patrick Yerkey was fatally shot while riding his bicycle near the intersection of Corday Way and Pearl Street in Pittsburgh's Bloomfield neighborhood. Responding to multiple ShotSpotter alerts, Pittsburgh police arrived at the scene to find Yerkey with a gunshot wound to the head. He was transported to a local hospital in critical condition and was pronounced dead shortly before 7 p.m.
