On May 14, 2023, 59-year-old Walter Richard Whaley Jr. was fatally shot in his residence on Sandy Shore Drive in Upper Mount Bethel Township, Pennsylvania. The incident occurred during a domestic altercation with his 47-year-old girlfriend, whose identity has not been publicly disclosed.
