In Johnstown, Pennsylvania, on the night of June 10, 2023, the life of 21-year-old Caleb Izick Beppler was tragically cut short. The young man was fatally shot in an act of gun violence that also left another individual wounded. The incident took place at the Liquid Currency bar, turning a place of socializing into a scene of violence. Family and friends, reeling from the sudden loss, gathered for a candlelight vigil the following evening on the 300 block of Second Avenue in the Cambria City section of Johnstown to honor Caleb's memory.
Following the shooting, an investigation was launched to find the person responsible for Caleb's death. The search for the shooter led authorities to New Jersey, where 42-year-old Dirk Jones was apprehended. Jones was subsequently extradited back to Pennsylvania to face charges related to the shooting.
Dirk Jones was lodged in the Cambria County Prison without bond. The Cambria County District Attorney's office has brought forth a series of serious charges against him. These include murder, multiple counts of aggravated assault, recklessly endangering another person, and various firearm charges, reflecting the gravity of the events that transpired on that fatal June night.
