On September 12, 2023, in Glenville, Pennsylvania, 60-year-old April K. Rehbein was tragically killed in an apparent murder-suicide involving her husband, 69-year-old David P. Rehbein. Authorities responded to reports of gunfire at the couple's residence on the 4600 block of Shaffers Church Road in Codorus Township around 6:15 p.m. Upon arrival, they discovered April's body outside the home, while David was found deceased inside from a self-inflicted gunshot wound.

A relative present at the scene reported witnessing an argument between the couple shortly before the incident. This individual contacted the police after discovering both April and David had succumbed to gunshot wounds. The York County Coroner's Office later confirmed April's death as a homicide and David's as a suicide.

April served as a secretary for Codorus Township, where she was regarded as a valued and pleasant member of the team. In light of her passing, the township announced the temporary closure of its office and a suspension of new permit issuances for several weeks. The Pennsylvania State Police continue to investigate the circumstances surrounding this tragic event.

This incident is part of a concerning pattern, marking the fifth murder-suicide reported in Pennsylvania over the summer of 2023. Authorities urge individuals experiencing domestic abuse to seek help through resources like the National Domestic Abuse Hotline. Additionally, those struggling with suicidal thoughts are encouraged to contact the National Suicide Hotline by dialing 988.
