On November 22, 2023, at approximately 12:07 p.m., 39-year-old Jeremiah Waylon Hawkins was fatally shot near Security Plaza on South Hanover Street in Pottstown, Pennsylvania. Hawkins, who was experiencing homelessness, sustained a gunshot wound to the head and was pronounced dead at Pottstown Hospital.
The assailant, identified as 15-year-old Thomas James Niarhos of Stowe, Pennsylvania, was apprehended at the scene by witnesses and subsequently taken into custody by responding officer
