On November 27, 2023, Darryl Nelson, a 35-year-old resident of Wilkinsburg, Pennsylvania, was fatally shot inside a home located in the 900 block of Hill Avenue. Emergency responders arrived at approximately 7:19 p.m., where they found Nelson deceased at the scene.
In the course of the investigation, authorities identified Darnell Green, 24, as a person of interest.
On December 21, 2023, detectives from the Allegheny County Sheriff's Office apprehended Green at a residence on Union Avenue in McKeesport. He was taken into custody without incident and brought to Allegheny County Police headquarters for questioning regarding Nelson's death.
Despite these efforts, the case remains unresolved. As of December 2024, the Allegheny County Police Department continues to seek information from the public to aid in identifying suspects involved in Nelson's murder. Detectives believe that Nelson was visiting a friend's apartment at the time of the shooting and that multiple individuals may have been present.
