On March 8, 2024, 40-year-old Michael Pruitt was fatally shot in Springfield Township, near Columbia Cross Roads, Pennsylvania. The incident occurred at the residence of his girlfriend, Ronda Parker. According to reports, Terry Parker, Ronda's estranged husband, impersonated her through text messages to lure Pruitt to the house. Upon arrival, Terry confronted Pruitt and shot him multiple times, leading to his death.
Following the murder, Terry and Ronda allegedly wrapped Pruitt's body and placed it in the trunk of Terry's car. They then traveled to Harrisburg, where they spent the night, even stopping to get ice cream with children while the body remained in the vehicle. The next day, they returned to Ronda's residence, accompanied by Terry's current girlfriend, Summer Heil. At this location, Terry and Heil dismembered Pruitt's body using an axe, with Heil reportedly holding the limbs during the process. The remains were then burned in a fire pit on the property in an attempt to conceal the crime.
Authorities became aware of the situation on March 11, after receiving disturbing text messages indicating a possible homicide. Upon investigation, Pennsylvania State Police discovered human bones in a burn pit and blood droplets inside the residence, some of which had been concealed with fresh paint. All three individuals were arrested and charged: Terry Parker and Ronda Parker faced charges of criminal homicide, tampering with physical evidence, and abuse of a corpse, while Summer Heil was charged with tampering with evidence and abuse of a corpse. They were arraigned and held without bail at the Bradford County Correctional Facility.
In the months following the arrests, the Bradford County District Attorney's Office announced intentions to seek the death penalty against Terry and Ronda Parker, citing the presence of a one-year-old child during the murder as an aggravating circumstance. Additionally, in October 2024, Summer Heil pleaded guilty to her involvement in dismembering and burning Pruitt's body, acknowledging her role in attempting to cover up the crime. She is currently awaiting sentencing.
The case has drawn significant attention due to its gruesome nature and the complex relationships between the individuals involved.
