On April 29, 2024, at approximately 11:30 p.m., Pittsburgh police responded to reports of a shooting on Heckelman Street in the Troy Hill neighborhood. Upon arrival, officers discovered 18-year-old David Rivera lying on the sidewalk in front of a residence, suffering from a gunshot wound to the chest. Despite immediate medical attention from officers and medics, Rivera was pronounced dead at the scene shortly thereafter.
