On May 24, 2024, 26-year-old Tyler Thomas Simanski of Erwinna, Pennsylvania, passed away unexpectedly. Born on July 10, 1997, in Somerville, New Jersey, to Sandra Sutton-Lavis and Scott Simanski, Tyler was known for his kindness, compassion, and love, which deeply touched the lives of those around him.
Tyler spent his early years in Glen Gardner, New Jersey, before relocating to Erwinna in 2019.
A 2015 graduate of Voorhees High School, he pursued his passion for creative writing at Fairleigh Dickinson University, earning a Bachelor of Arts degree in 2019. During his academic journey, Tyler actively participated in the drama club and choir, reflecting his love for the arts.
An avid writer and anime enthusiast, Tyler was in the process of creating his own animated television series and was an active member of the Bucks County Writers Group. He enjoyed theater, outdoor activities along the Delaware River, and cherished time spent at the New Jersey Shore with his family. His two dogs, Cassie and Ellie, held a special place in his heart, greeting him affectionately each day.
Tyler's enthusiasm for video games was evident through his extensive collection of Nintendo consoles and games. He often sought out items at flea markets or yard sales to restore, dedicating an entire room to his treasured collection. His gaming skills were well-known, and victories against him were rare and celebrated within the family.
He is survived by his mother, Sandra Sutton-Lavis; stepfather, Tom Lavis; brother, Brandon Simanski, and his wife, Jesse Miller; sister, Mikayla Simanski, and her fiancé, Justin Zaffino; girlfriend, Briana Major; grandparents, Carol and Bob Heller, Jimmy Sutton, Phil Wengryn, Joyce Lavis, and Pamela Maguire; as well as numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends. Tyler was predeceased by his father, Scott Simanski, and his uncle, Arthur Sutton.
A visitation and Service of Remembrance were held on June 1, 2024, at Martin Funeral Home in Clinton, New Jersey, allowing family and friends to honor Tyler's memory and celebrate his life.
In lieu of flowers, the family has established a Memorial Scholarship in Tyler's name to support aspiring writers at Voorhees High School. Donations can be mailed to Sandra Sutton-Lavis, PO Box 219, Erwinna, PA 18920.
