On June 16, 2024, 31-year-old Ambrose Joseph Bowers of Altoona, Pennsylvania, was fatally shot in Cresson Borough. The incident occurred around 11:55 p.m. near the intersection of Front Street and Keystone Avenue, where Bowers was found lying in the roadway with multiple gunshot wounds. He was pronounced dead at the scene, with the cause of death determined to be massive blood loss from seven gunshot wounds: four to his back, one to his side, and two to the front of his body.
