On July 15, 2024, at approximately 12:31 a.m., Philadelphia police responded to a shooting incident in the city's Olney neighborhood. Upon arrival at the 500 block of West Ruscomb Street, officers discovered 67-year-old Omar Gaitan inside his Honda CRV, suffering from a gunshot wound to the face. He was immediately transported to Albert Einstein Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead at 1:08 a.m.
